Recent commissions in Mayfair brought me to a lovely residence in London, where I had the privilege of creating a fresh flower rangolis. For me, this work is about more than just a beautiful arrangement; it’s a living art form, a sensory experience that brings a piece of culture and nature into a space. The ephemeral nature of a rangoli is what makes it so special. It’s a fleeting moment of beauty, designed to be enjoyed fully in the present, with the fragrance of each individual petal adding another layer to the visual spectacle. As I lay each flower—from the delicate marigolds to the velvety roses—I’m not just following a pattern; I’m composing a piece that speaks to the spirit of the occasion. It’s an intimate process, a quiet meditation that culminates in a vibrant burst of colour and life, transforming an ordinary floor into a canvas of joyous celebration. This particular project in September felt like bringing a vibrant piece of an Indian festival into the heart of London, creating a unique and memorable installations that was as much a part of the event as the people who gathered to admire it.
